FOR A COMMON GOOD
Despite being as dramatic as land-grabbing, ocean exploitation remains invisible. The world’s oceans and seas are major resources, providing food, clean air and water as well as innumerable other resources upon which humankind depends. Simply put, oceanic exploitation is a devastating problem for biodiversity as well as for human life. The Collectif Argos travelled to meet coastal peoples around the world who are suffering from threats to their waters.
From Alaska to Indonesia, from Gabon to France, along the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts and in Polynesia and Singapore, the “Amer” exhibition tells the story of people struggling against plastic pollution, overfishing and exploitation, whether mining, industrial or touristic. The problem is global and affects the entire planet. But solutions exist, to make the ocean a true common good.
